ANÁLISE DA DIABETES MELLITUS NO INQUÉRITO POPULACIONAL DE SAÚDE DO VIGITEL: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

Abstract

VIGITEL (Surveillance of Risk and Protection Factors for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey) is a Brazilian population survey whose main objective is to annually estimate the prevalence of risk factors for chronic diseases in Brazil. The objective of this integrative review is to analyze the main contributions of the VIGITEL trajectory on health information about diabetes in the literature published in recent years. The terms were combined with the Boolean operators: “VIGITEL” AND “diabetes” in the Web of Science (WosS) database and from the period between 2019 and 2023. Seventeen articles were selected and one article was excluded because it was a literature review article. The study identified relevant information on the health situation regarding diabetes from the VIGITEL population survey. The results presented by VIGITEL allowed for a deeper understanding of the epidemiological profile of the Brazilian population, providing support to states and municipalities for planning health promotion actions, serving as a health surveillance tool. In these studies, it was possible to identify the importance of strengthening Primary Care in terms of health education, promotion and prevention actions to combat diabetes.
